Layout Editor¶
The Layout Editor is a powerful drag & drop design tool for creating content layouts for your digital signage displays.
Accessing the Editor¶
- Navigate to Design > Layouts from the main menu
- Click Add Layout to create a new layout, or
- Click the Edit button on an existing layout's row menu
Editor Interface¶
The Layout Editor consists of several key areas:
Canvas¶
The central design area representing your display screen. The canvas dimensions match your selected resolution.
Toolbox¶
Located on the left side, the Toolbox contains all available content types:
- Library Media - Images, videos, and other uploaded files
- Widgets - Text, clock, weather, ticker, and more
- Global Elements - Shared elements across multiple layouts
Properties Panel¶
Appears on the right when an element is selected:
- General tab - Name, duration, and basic settings
- Appearance tab - Visual styling options
- Advanced tab - Duration overrides and advanced configuration
Status Bar¶
Shows the layout name (click to rename), status indicator, and total duration.
Creating Content¶
Adding Elements¶
- Open the Toolbox panel
- Browse or search for content types
- Drag and drop items onto the canvas
- Position and resize as needed
Arranging Elements¶
- Drag elements to reposition them
- Resize using the handles on element edges
- Use snap-to buttons for precise alignment
- Layer ordering controls which elements appear on top
Setting Duration¶
Each element has a display duration:
- Select the element on the canvas
- Open the Properties Panel
- In the Advanced tab, check Set a duration
- Enter the duration in seconds

For video elements, the duration defaults to the video length. For images and other static content, you must set a duration.
Background¶
Customize the layout background:
- Click on an empty area of the canvas
- In the Properties Panel, set:
- Background Color - Choose a solid color
- Background Image - Select an image from the Library
Preview¶
Preview your layout before publishing:
- Click the Play button in the toolbar
- A preview window shows how content will appear on displays
- Click the full-screen icon for a larger preview
- Close the preview to return to editing
Publishing¶
Layouts must be Published to be scheduled on displays:
- Click the menu icon (three lines) in the toolbar
- Select Publish
- Optionally set a Publish Date for future activation
- Confirm to publish
Warning
Once published, a layout cannot be edited directly. To make changes, use the Checkout option from the row menu, which creates a new draft while keeping the published version active.
FAQs¶
Is there a limit on how many layouts I can create? No, there is no limit on the number of layouts.
Why does my layout show an orange status? An orange status indicates the layout contains online-only content (like weather or web pages). This is normal behavior.
Can I create a carousel effect? Yes, add a Playlist to a specific area of your layout for rotating content.
How do I edit a published layout? Use the Checkout option from the layout's row menu. This creates an editable draft copy.
