Show a Video

This guide walks you through uploading a video and playing it on your displays.

Steps

1. Upload the Video

  1. Navigate to Library > Media from the main menu
  2. Click the Add Media button
  3. Click Add files and select your video file
  4. Optionally provide a Name
  5. Select a Folder for organization
  6. Click Start upload

Supported Formats

SignageLab supports MP4 and WebM video formats. For best compatibility across all player types, use MP4 with H.264 encoding.

File Size

Large video files may take time to upload and sync to displays. Consider your network bandwidth and available storage when uploading high-resolution videos.

2. Schedule to a Display

  1. Navigate to Schedule from the main menu
  2. Click Add Event
  3. In the scheduling wizard:
    • Select Video as the event type
    • Choose your uploaded video
    • Select the target Display(s)
    • Choose Always or set a custom date range
  4. Complete the wizard

3. Verify on Display

The display will download the video file on its next sync and begin playback according to the schedule. Videos play full-screen by default.

Video in a Layout

To combine video with other content elements:

  1. Go to Design > Layouts and create or edit a Layout
  2. Drag a Video widget from the Toolbox onto the canvas
  3. Select your video from the Library
  4. Configure duration and playback options in the Properties panel
  5. Publish and Schedule the Layout

Tip

Set the widget duration to match your video length, or enable Set a duration in the Properties panel to override the natural video duration.
